How A Book Happens
Through a proven process of research and interviews, we ferret out
your company's milestones and discover critical details that often lie
hidden below the surface. Through the power of good writing, we turn your
story into a "good read." With superior design and technical expertise,
we produce a book that will make you proud.
To research, write and produce a book from beginning to end generally
takes about eighteen months, though schedules may vary.
Yockey Communication will work closely with a "point person" at your company,
ensuring that your message comes through the way you want it to.
We break our work down into three phases, dividing the timeline equally
among these phases. Keeping you in close contact with the project guarantees
that there are few if any surprises at the end of any phase. Any questions
or concerns are always addressed before moving on to the next phase.
Phase One: Proposal
After agreeing on scope and purpose, a period of intensive research
allows us to produce a thesis and full outline. These, along with sample
chapters, make up the Book Proposal, giving you a clear picture of the
style, tone and content of your book. If your book is bound for mass-market
publication, the Book Proposal will be used to sell it.
Phase Two: Manuscript
While research continues, we submit the text chapter-by-chapter or section-by
section, to enable your ongoing input, feedback and ideas as we write.
The end result is the delivery of a complete manuscript in electronic
form, ready to be distributed to a select group of readers for comments
and feedback.
Phase Three: Editing and Publishing
Working with your point person, we collect all comments, feedback and
changes you'd like to see made in the manuscript. Our designer develops
a strong look and feel for your finished book. We provide recommendations
on paper, binding dust jacket and printing for your consideration and
approval. With all decisions made, we send the finished product to a trusted,
high-quality printer for delivery to you.
